Sea Vessel
Using pure white porcelain each piece is wheel thrown, sculpted, then the interior is glazed with a semi-transparent finish in the colors of the sea. The unique “crater glaze effect” is the result of a special combination of chemicals reacting to the intense heat of a gas kiln, reduction fired to over 2300F. The fire gives life to the glaze, creating a rare, barnacle-like texture. Most pieces are fired two to three times to achieve the desired effect.
